Ligia novi-zealandiae (Dana, 1853)

Found along the sea shores, especially on rocky beaches, under stones or seaweed. Described from the Bay of Islands, under kelp on the beach (Dana, 1853).

Runs rapidly when disturbed.

Body length 9-13 mm (not including antennae and uropods). Antennae very long, flagellum with 10+ segments. Eyes very large, composed of hundreds of ommatidia.
